The wolf’s body length is 105-160 centimeters, tail 35-50 centimeters, height 70-100 centimeters, weight 35-50 (sometimes up to 80) kilograms; the female wolf is relatively small. Its color is blackish gray (abdomen open gray). The wolf’s sense of smell and hearing are well developed. The colder the local climate, the larger the wolves are. Wolves are noisy in the morning or evening. There are about 32 species of wolves. There are two species of wolves in Tajikistan, the steppe wolf and the Tibetan wolf. In order to prevent wolf attacks on rare animals and livestock of the surrounding population, wolf hunting is allowed in the hunting areas belonging to the “Oxus Holding”.
